Comprised of agents derived from nutraceuticals, the ProGuard collection of hair loss products was created to combat male and female pattern hair loss (Androgenic Alopecia). According to its makers, the effectiveness of the ProGuard collection lies within the fact that it was developed with the knowledge that anti-androgenic substances have additive effects in the fight against male and female pattern hair loss when combined with other elements.

ProGuard Benefits

The benefits associated with ProGuard products are best explained by looking at each item in the collection.

  • ProGuard Hair Vitamin: Purported to be an all-natural product, the ProGuard Hair Vitamin works to ward off the effects if thinning hair. According to the makers, its success hinges on its ability to combat the effects of dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Its main ingredients include saw palmetto extract, stinging nettle, green tea extract, magnesium stereate, opt-zinc and vitamin B6.
  • ProGuard Shampoo:¬† Also alleged to be completely natural, ProGuard Shampoo is said to merge deep cleansing agents with ProGuard's formula and a blend of anti-DHT fatty acids. According to its makers, when used daily, ProGuard Shampoo makes hair thicker and stronger while helping to stimulate the hair and restoring DHT's adverse effects on the follicles.
  • ProGuard Anti-DHT Serum: ¬†Comprised of fatty acids, patented natural oils, herbals and Minoxidil, ProGuard Anti-DHT Serum is believed to inhibit 5-Aplha-Reductase by diminishing the production of DHT. According to the makers, this means the thinning of the hair follicle is decreased.

ProGuard Side Effects

While the makers of the ProGuard collection claim these products carry no adverse side effects, the presence of Minoxidil leaves much room for argument. Scalp flaking and irritation are the most common side effects associated with Minoxidil. However, some users have reported seeing changes in the size and darkness of body hair along with unwanted hair growth on the ears, forehead and other parts of the skin. In some rare cases, burning of the scalp, increased hair loss, reddened skin and soreness or inflammation at the root of hair has been reported.

Does ProGuard Work?

While some consumers claim to experience success with ProGuard products, a number of others have complained that this hair loss treatment yielded little to no results. At present, more advanced hair loss products which utilize nanotechnology are overshadowing hair loss treatments like ProGuard in their effectiveness and affordability as well as their overall efficiency.
