Specialty Hair Loss Treatment

Hair loss is a problem that affects millions of men and women throughout the world. Not only does severe hair loss damage one's appearance, but it also can be shattering to their confidence. Their self belief is decreased even more when they try an acclaimed miracle hair loss treatment that doesn't live up to the hype.

Laser Comb

The laser comb is one of the newest hair restoration products on the market. This specialty hair loss treatment product claims to be the most effective at home treatment on the market. The product requires the subject simply run the laser comb across the scalp on a regular basis. According to their marketing collateral, the laser stimulates the scalp into rejuvenating hair growth.
The problem is that our tests found it simply didn't work. It seems to be nothing more than an attempt to capitalize on the popularity of laser surgery. Consumers have seen how effective lasers are for treating eyes, veins, and cosmetic blemishes, so they assume the laser comb works. Unfortunately, lasers don't work quite as well when not in the hands of a professional.

Toppik

Toppik is unlike most other hair products. It isn't a cream or pill. Toppik is a container of color matched fibers that bond to your hair through static electricity. Simply shake the container over the bald area, and organic fibers will blend in with your hair. It's certainly a unique way to combat thinning hair.

But does it work?

Unfortunately, Toppik is nothing more than a cover-up of hair loss. It doesn't provide a long term solution to thinning hair. Subjects will continue to lose their hair at the same rate as before using the product. Then, once they don't have enough hair to blend with, Toppik will be useless to them.

Hair Masque

Hair masques have been used for many years to improve the health of hair follicles. They're similar to face masks in the sense that they should be used at least twice a week to maintain appearance and health. Hair masques repair dry, damaged hair.
However, we found that the hair masque wasn't an effective hair loss treatment. It certainly strengthens the hair it comes in contact with, but it can not grow your hair. Instead, we suggest using the hair masque to those who want their hair to be healthier.

Toupee/Wig

Toupees and wigs have long been a staple in hair loss treatment. The idea behind them is that there is no cure for hair loss. Instead, they believe the best solution is to simply cover up the problem.

To us, wearing a toupee or wig is admitting defeat to hair loss. Don't throw in the towel! There are hair loss treatments available that work. Covering up your hair loss will not make it go away. It's a short term solution to a long term problem.

Weave

Hair weaves are similar to toupees and wigs because they only conceal the problem of hair loss. A weave is a non-surgical extension to your hair. While they look more realistic than most wigs, weaves still fail to treat the problem of hair loss head-on.
Furthermore, a weave can actually damage your hair. If attached too tightly, the weave will harm the follicles. Also, some of the glues and chemicals used to bond weaves are not recommended to those experiencing alopecia.

Minoxidil

Minoxidil, on the other hand, is an FDA-approved hair loss treatment that is contained in top hair loss treatments as our Editor's Choice, Provillus.
